Advantage Cleveland: Tennis & Education
Providing Cleveland's youth with tennis, wellness, fitness, literacy, STEM and poetry programs to promote hope, healthy living and productive futures.
AdvantageCLE offers a free eight-week camp each summer at Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center in Cleveland each weekday. Children receive breakfast and lunch and rotate through five rotations per day. The camp focuses on tennis, fitness, and wellness, as well as literacy, STEM, and poetry slam.
ACE After School Program
ACE stands for Athletics, Creativity and Enrichment- all themes for our after-school program. Students receive tennis, poetry, STEM, literacy, art and wellness instruction-- moving each child toward their potential on and off the court.
AdvantageCLE is proud to have expanded our tennis clinics at Cleveland State University. This program is under the guidance of Coach William Morgan, who comes to us from Forest City Tennis Club. Our clinics have grown from a dozen children in 2020 to 50 players registered this spring.
Our Areas of Focus
Tennis offers individual development and team-building skills, strengthening a student’s self-confidence.
Literacy promotes active learning for students through themed workshops, crafts and creative projects that help develop communication skills.
STEM introduces students to the engineering process and helps them develop scientific skills in a fun and exciting way.
The Wellness curriculum was designed to teach better nutrition and decision making for a healthier lifestyle.
Poetry feeds the need for creativity and freedom for students to express themselves. Students are encouraged to perform their work to promote public speaking skills.
Fitness classes address health, body image, and self-esteem by developing speed, agility, and strength.
