Staff Spotlight: Carter Harris

Carter Harris is a rising star in ICTC. As a former camper, Carter learned how to play tennis on the courts at Thurgood Marshall Recreation Center, as many of our summer camp participants do. However, Carter found a love for the sport and has been able to take it to the next level. After seven years in the camp, Carter joined the staff last summer to share his skills with younger kids. He also plays for Martin Luther King High School, since his own high school Central Catholic, does not have a team. He is now one of the top players in the Cleveland Metropolitan School league, and is involved in performance clinics at both the Cleveland Racquet Club with board member and Case Men’s Tennis Coach Todd Wojtkowski, as well as winter clinics at Cleveland State University. He also is one of our staff at the new after-school program, where he tutors and teaches tennis to first through third graders (who love him). His hope is to play college tennis in the coming years.

As a junior in high school, the future is bright for Carter. He has been involved in a program called Minds Matter, which meets weekly on Saturdays with high school students, prepping them for college with ACT and College Prep curriculum such as filling out applications and scholarships. Last summer Carter spent two weeks at Baldwin Wallace University where he took a variety of classes ranging from civil rights to finance to nutrition. This summer, Carter has to decide between Stanford, Duke, and Notre Dame University to spend a few weeks in leadership seminars or in business-based classes.

His ultimate goal is to play tennis and study business at the University of Vermont, which he fell in love with on a college tour. With a great GPA, his evolving tennis game, and his great personality, we know Carter Harris will achieve his dreams.
